Darren Shelton, Lead Pastor
Darren Shelton is a straightforward communicator who uniquely connects God's unchanging truth with a diverse culture through compelling teaching methods. He has over 25 years of ministerial experience as a Lead Pastor, Youth Pastor and Church Administrator. Darren also brings 26+ years experience in international business gained as a Maritime Shipping Agent.
Darren serves as Police Chaplain to the Texas Highway Patrol, Alvin Police Department and the Alvin ISD Police Department. He is the founder of Freedom Alive (an educational foundation focused on recovery from alcohol and drug addiction), AlvinCOPS (a non-profit fiduciary for public support of local law enforcement) and co-founder of FuelTrust (a data science company doing commodity risk analysis.) He presently serves as the Chairman of the Alvin-Manvel Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee and is a Regent for Alvin Community College. Darren and his wife Aimee have been married for 25 years and have three daughters. He is co-author of Worth the Wait: A Guide to Teenage Abstinence with Ken Gurley and Paul Sibley.

Aimee Shelton, Worship Pastor
Aimee Shelton is our Team Pastor of worship and children's ministries. She is a state-certified interpreter for the deaf and has touched many lives in this unique ministry. She graduated from North Harris Community College with an Associate of Arts in Education. In addition she happily served as the Ladies' Ministry Director for a group of 30+ churches in Brazoria, Galveston and Fort Bend counties.
Aimee has over 25 years experience as a Christian educator having served as a teacher in private schools, homeschool coops and as a daycare director. As an extension of her passion for education and wellness, she is a Functional Nutritionist and helps clients improve their quality of life through her health startup, Emergence Functional Nutrition. Her favorite activity is spending time with the three beautiful daughters she shares with Pastor Darren.

Bill Nelson, Team Pastor (deceased)
William (Bill) Nelson joined Hope Tabernacle in the fall of 2008 and served as a Team Pastor unitl his death in 2018. Bill enjoyed sharing his testimony with people and seeing their lives changed by God's grace. He, along with his wife Carol, founded a church in Freeport, TX where he pastored for many years and thereafter traveled across the United States ministering as an evangelist before returning to Brazoria County in his retirement years. His ministry touched countless lives as a pastor, evangelist, soulwinner and consumate bible study teacher. We continue to honor his life and ministry with much gratitude.
